Lacrosse Highlight Reel Tips That Actually Get Coaches to Watch

Close-up of a video editing timeline on a computer screen showing clips and tracks in vibrant colors like pink and green.

Your lacrosse highlight reel is the first thing many coaches click on and the first place most athletes lose them. Too long, too flashy, or too confusing, and the coach moves on. The good news? A clean, coach-friendly reel is easier than you think. Here are the must-dos to get coaches watching to the end.

Coaches don’t need a movie. They need 2-4 minutes that show who you are as a player..

Here’s some things to keep in mind:

Keep It Short and Clear

Stick to 2-4 minutes. Lead with your best 20–30 seconds. Add a title card with your name, grad year, position, jersey number, and contact info. You can circle or arrow yourself before each clip so coaches never guess who they’re watching.

Show Decision-Making, Not Just Highlights

Flashy plays don’t win spots. Coaches want to see hustle, reads, and recovery. Highlight reels that show consistent effort and smart decision-making tell a far stronger story than one spectacular play on repeat.

Update Regularly

Refresh your reel every season or showcase. Lead with your newest, strongest plays. Coaches want to see growth as much as raw talent.

Make It Easy to Share

Upload to YouTube or Vimeo with a clean link. Drop it in every coach email and keep the privacy setting on “Unlisted” so only those with the link can see.
